I Found My North Star

I found my North Star…

Personally, I don’t know where I’d be if music hadn’t found me. You see, growing up I had an irreverence to authority. Did what I wanted, when I wanted, regardless of consensuses. Act now worry about it later does have its drawbacks I discovered. I was no Evil Knievel when it came to personal safety, like wanting to skydive. I mean, I’m not an adrenaline junky.

Discovering music and the ability to sing changed my life. It’s nourishment for the soul. Just as we need sunlight, music bathes our senses, lifts the spirit, strengthens, and at times makes us reflect our life. Songs give us courage and energy to go the extra mile. We listen to our favorite music when exercising or just before a presentation to a client. We get fired up!

Music heals from the inside out. I know this to be true. I’ve instinctually sung during the darkest times in my life. It is my go-to safe space. I was thirteen when my father passed away. I retreated into a world of music. I listened to the local radio stations for hours, making cassette tapes (remember those?) of songs I liked and would sing to all of them. Late at night I tuned in to PDQ Bach. Music gave me purpose and direction. I found my North star.
